Tooth Decay Experiment!

In 2nd class we were learning all about teeth. 

We learnt that sugary, sticky foods are not good for our teeth as they stick to the surface of them, causing bacteria to break down the sugar into acid which can damage our teeth! 

First we carried out an experiment to show this using eggs, coca cola and water. We put one egg into water and left it for 3 days. We put another egg into Coca Cola and left it for 3 days also. The shell of the egg we put into the Coca Cola had completely disappeared and had turned brown!! The egg we put into the water stayed the exact same. Check out the pictures!! 

We carried out a second experiment using apples to show how cavities can spread to our whole tooth.
